I remembered one time at my place I had the scariest encounter (in my opinion) with a rain fly. The kind of flies that appear during the rain and get attracted to bright lights. I was with both of my sisters in the living room when one of them pointed out at a lamp at the corner of the room "Ewww all the flies are clinging to the bulb" When I glanced around my living room, I noticed that there were flies everywhere where there is light, and my living room is brightly lit up thanks to the gazillion amount of light bulbs installed around. I felt an itch around my waist and began scratching while saying "Just open the windows, they will get out soon enough." My stomach began to start itching a few minutes later and all of a sudden I felt a ticklish sensation around my naval. I could remember how my heart raced when my eyes darted from my tummy to the nearest light bulb next to me with the dozens of rain flies flying around it. When I lifted up my shirt, a rain fly was fluttering around my naval about to settle into it. The next thing I remembered was my house was filled with my screams and wails....
But that happened years ago. My latest encounter with this phobia of mine happened a couple of months ago. I was outside of the Egypt station at my workplace with Khat, chattering as usual when suddenly we saw something zoomed past us. Me and Khat stared at each other for a moment, shrugged our shoulders and continued where we were left of. Suddenly a dragonfly zoomed towards our direction again and both of us bolted out of our seats and started running in different directions trying to ward off the wretched dragonfly. We managed to find a spot at a corner to hide for a little while. After what seemed like forever and thinking that we were already safe, we clambered out, retreating from our crouching positions. The next thing I knew, two big dragonflies zoomed towards us, our screams echoing around the back of house.
Another big fear of mine which I always pray not to come across, are lizards. Nasty things they are. If given the choice, I would have led the lizards to extinction. I am disgusted by the sight of it, even when the nearest one is miles away. I got so scared when a lizard entered my room once and clung on to the wall next to the door and didn't budge at all and I wanted to pee so badly but I didn't dare to move so I just sat on my bed staring at the bloody reptile, giving out silent commands for it to get out of there so that I could pee.
I would be lying if I say that these are the only things I am afraid of but this post could go on and on and be developed into a novel if I continue on.
